The Swimming<br />Pigs (at Sandy Toes)

Our Day Excursions aren’t just about the swimming pigs, we also offer a snorkeling tour, a private beach on a private island, a hammock garden, a world-famous beach bar, and kayak and tube rentals! You may have heard of the wild pigs in Exuma, we’re a much different experience. Please see below for some of our differences:

  • 25 minute trip
Spend more time on the beach or with the pigs with a short 25 minute boat ride to Rose Island vs a 2 hour trip each way to Exuma.
  • Rose Island pigs
Raised by Sandy Toes from babies so they are tame, safe, and happy.
  • More time with the piggies!
Sandy Toes pigs come out to play throughout the entire day (weather permitting) as opposed to the Exuma pigs where it’s a 20 minute stop, then your tour moves on to another island.
  • Royally cared for
Our Sandy Toes pigs get the royal treatment daily. From nutritional care, skin and spa care, vet visits and vaccinations, lots of love, cuddles, safe and protected sleeping paddocks, and of course the best beach and swimming environment piggy could ask for!
  • Safe
Since the Sandy Toes piggies are not wild, they’re safe to be around.
  • Clean
Cleanliness is important for the safety of our guests and pigs, so we take extra steps to ensure a clean environment for everyone.
  • Not Exuma pigs
The Exuma pigs are wild and 89 miles from Nassau. A 2 hour trip.
  • More to do
Our piggies love to be the stars of the show but we have other experiences on this day trip as well. So you get the pigs and so much more. Our Day Excursions offer a snorkeling tour, a private beach on a private island, a hammock garden, a world-famous beach bar, kayak and tube rentals, and some amazing beachside massages!
  • Much closer
The Sandy Toes experience that includes the pigs is MUCH closer; 6 miles (9.2km) while the Exuma pigs are a whopping 89 miles (143km) away. That’s 2 hours by boat!

Only 25 minutes

from Paradise Island to Rose Island

The Bahamas Swimming Pigs are quite well known in the beautiful islands, and you may have thought you had to travel so far to see them; Not anymore! Sandy Toes is home to a sanctuary of protected wildlife including our Royal Peacocks, curly tail lizards, ocean reef life and our beloved “farm – saved” beach going, swimming pigs!

Meet Babe, Wilbur, Pumba, Larry, Curly, Mo, Ginger, Pepper, and Spice, just some of our awesome Rose Island piggies! Our wide range of big guys and some little guys are vet checked and cared for on the regular, and only given the cleanest diet served with plenty of love, sunshine, and sunscreen (yes, sunscreen!) With tons of space to run around, the ocean next door to take a dip in, and a protected and shaded pad to call their own, they’re living the dream on Rose Island! Come see for yourself!

The swimming pigs are part of our Full Day Excursions from Nassau to Rose Island. The experience (which is totally optional) is included in your price along with access to the island, snorkeling, lunch, and all of the other amazing Sandy Toes amenities already available to our guests!

What you need to know about the Swimming Pigs

As if your day wasn’t action packed enough with the Sandy Toes day excursion, we’ve thrown in some face time with some of the most lovable animals you’ll ever meet. They love the attention and we provide healthy, hearty snacks for you to feed them with while you get your swimming pig selfies.

We also take great pride in making sure our piggies are as healthy and as happy as they can be. That means we seek the highest level of veterinary certification through the Government of The Bahamas. See our official seal below:

Can you swim with the pigs in Nassau?

The answer used to be no, until now! If you’re staying at Atlantis, Baha Mar, AirBnB or anywhere on Nassau, in a quick 25 minute cruise up to Rose Island, the answer is yes! We’re all waiting for you!

This attraction is only available on the Sandy Toes Day Excursions.
No other excursions or charter boats come to our private Sandy Toes location or interact with our Sandy Toes pigs. These experiences are unique to the Sandy Toes Day Excursion guests only and should not be confused with other “Rose Island” swimming pigs experiences. We are the authentic and original swimming pigs experience on Rose Island and we would love to have you come and visit us.
